Michael L. Benner is a former software engineer who gave it all up to become a children’s book writer. His debut picture book, MAC & CHEESE: THE ORIGIN STORY (Orchard Books), landed at #1 on the New York Times best seller list! Stay tuned for future books in the Delicious Duos series, including MILK & COOKIES: THE PERFECT PAIR, set to release in Summer 2027.
Michael loves writing friendship stories filled with puns and jokes and plenty of silliness. Hey, do you know what’s a pirate’s favorite cheese? CHEDDARRRRRRRR!!! He also likes writing spooky stories with Halloween as a backdrop, but nothing too scary because he writes for kids, after all.
Michael lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, son, and wacky dog who thinks she’s a cat.
He’s represented by Stacey Glick of Dystel, Goderich & Bourret.
